A public consultation into support among the Scottish population for a statutory register for lobbyists covering Scotland has come out in favour of the plan. Nearly 90 per cent of respondents signalled their support for the proposals brought by Labour MSP Neil Findlay. However, the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations, which represents charities, said the plans could be 'undemocratic and immoral.'
Jo Gibbons, a former Downing Street and Tony Blair comms adviser, has been appointed by Fenton Communications as associate director. She joins after serving as a director for the research firm Populus, where she was responsible for overseeing comms and new business strategy.
CBI president and Centrica chairman Sir Roger Carr called on members at the body's AGM to fight their corner in resisting any move to leave the EU in a future referendum. Carr said that Europe remained the home of half of the UK's exports. 'It's like many relationships,' he added. 'Can't live with you, can't live without you - but somehow the partnership survives.'
BBC political producer Thea Rogers has been appointed as George Osborne's special adviser. The move follows the departure of the Chancellor's long-serving aide Poppy Mitchell-Rose.
