HSBC's head of UK comms Mark Hemingway is to leave the organisation as part of a wider comms restructure at the group. He will leave in the New Year, with his UK comms role disappearing upon his departure. Hemingway joined the bank in 2008, with responsibility for UK personal finance media relations, following 26 years heading the press office at Halifax/HBOS.

Citypress has appointed Liz Larvin from the British Chambers of Commerce as account director in its financial services team. She joins after two years at BCC as press and comms manager.

Hume Brophy has appointed the former head of the Irish Funds Industry Association, Gary Palmer,as senior consultant. He was the IFIA's CEO from 1999 until early 2012. From 2000 to June 2012, Palmer was also a director, board member and member of the management committee of the European Funds and Asset Management Association. Palmer will work across Hume Brophy's London, Brussels and Dublin markets.

College Hill's Nick Elwes has joined AIM-listed energy firm Enegi Oil in a newly created director of comms role. Elwes had been at College Hill for 19 years, focusing on the natural resources sector, and worked with Enegi Oil as a client.
