DIARY: Top-tip sessions and awards to woo the kids

Whatever job-cutting there may be going on in the PR world, it

seems the industry is at least still willing to try to woo

youngsters.

Virgin Student has organised an alternative careers fair to give the

great unwashed an insight into how to take their first steps into

'popular but elusive' careers, including PR.

The web-based student service will receive the support of Median

Recruitment and PRWeek Awards nominee Lewis Communications as it strives

to give undergraduates the warts-and-all guide to working in the PR

world.

Starting even younger, The Publicity Club of London is to host the

Desmond Wilcox Young Communicator of the Year awards, aimed at giving

teams of sixth-formers the chance to hone their PR skills.

Lords Bell and Chadlington, and Sir Martin Sorrell, are among the

backers of the event.

How long before the primary schools are scoured for new talent?
