Diffusion MD Daljit Bhurji and John Doe executive director Adam Thomas were speaking on PRWeek TV about their recent moves to open offices in New York. TVC and Frank PR are also opening New York offices.
Bhurji told PRWeek that he has heard clients complain that they have ‘paid through the nose for what they describe as bog standard PR’ in New York.
Diffusion also plans to open an office in San Francisco to capitalise on its tech brand heritage.
Thomas, who joined John Doe last week from working as global head of PR at Vertu and has held senior comms roles at Motorola and Diesel UK, agreed with Bhurji.
He said: ‘Being on a client side for some time and working with agencies in the US, I struggled to find sometimes - or quite a lot of the time - good agencies that I was happy with.’
Thomas also played down potential problems represented by the cultural differences within the US city, adding there are ‘a lot of similarities’ with ‘tight links culturally’ to the UK.
