PUBLIC SECT0R: Fuse PR selected to aid Brunel Uni glaucoma study

Brunel University has taken on PR support to promote its research

into tackling glaucoma, one of the world's biggest causes of

blindness.

Through the work of Professor Xiaohui Liu, the London-based university

is one of the leading pioneers in research into the disease.

Fuse PR has now been taken on to promote Liu's work, which involves

using portable computer technology to detect the disease early.

The equipment is now being used in Nigeria and could soon be available

worldwide.

Fuse managing partner Jay O'Connor will lead the account, which also

includes promoting three other projects at the university's information

systems and computing department.

Latest World Health Organisation figures estimate there are 105 million

cases of glaucoma worldwide. More than 80 per cent of those blinded by

glaucoma and suspected cases live in the developing world.
