TV specialist firm to launch Disney Studios in France

TV specialist PR firm The Television Consultancy is to launch Walt

Disney Studios - a theme park created by Disneyland Paris.

The studios will open in spring 2002 on a site next to the existing park

outside the French capital. They will focus on animation, film and

TV.

The Television Consultancy was awarded the account without a pitch.

Managing director Elaine Stern worked for the client five years ago

while at broadcast specialist London Bureau (now part of Medialink).

Disneyland Paris's UK and Ireland PR is handled in-house by a

three-strong team, led by head of PR Nicole Walsh.

Walsh said that The Television Consultancy was appointed to maximise

'non-travel television opportunities' for the project.

Stern said its aim is to target key UK broadcasters to set up news,

entertainment and feature opportunities.

During the launch The Television Consultancy will handle all UK TV

crews' requirements, as well as feeding footage to the UK throughout the

opening weekend.

Stern will run the broadcast team and Katrina Sichel will head

production.

Disneyland Paris uses external agency BGB & Associates to handle some

elements of its UK PR. 'We use BGB specifically for their travel

expertise,' Walsh said.
