Flack: (saving) on expenses - New Street Grill, London EC2

Reviewer: Danny Rogers, editor-in-chief, PRWeek

What is it good for?

The grill is great for entertaining clients or journalists near to the heart of London's financial centre. As part of the brand new Old Bengal Warehouse development, New Street Grill sits between sister venues Fish Market and the Old Bengal Bar.

Signature dishes

Top marks go to high-grade meat from Turtons Farm in Devon. So try a 750g rib-eye on the bone or rump of Colne Valley lamb. Another signature dish is Aylesbury game terrine, aged for three days and served with crisp pickled shallots.

Who's the boss?

It's a D&D London restaurant. The manager is Tomas Minkley and the chef is David Philpot.

Tips please

With a sister wine shop, New Street Grill has some brilliant and good value wines by the glass. Ask for the sommelier (Nicolas Clerc), who will advise you well and is sensitive to your budget.

What's the damage?

Starters range between £6.50 and £12.50, with mains from £15 to £30. Good domaine French wines range from £7 per glass.

New Street Grill, Old Bengal Warehouse, 16A New Street, London, EC2M 4TR. 020 3503 0785.
