Ruder Finn, in collaboration with the three UK meningitis charities, has launched Meningitis: Keep Watching, a campaign to raise awareness among parents of the different types of meningitis. The campaign includes a short film, a Ruder Finn-created Facebook page,Twitter hashtag and YouTube channel.

The Bio-Industry Association has launched Angels for Life Sciences, a network that will address the need for a UK-wide investment network for 'angels' - people who provide capital for start-ups.

A Kings Fund report claims that patient care will get worse and the NHS will not meet its £20bn productivity target by 2015. The charity's quarterly monitoring review of the NHS found that more than 40 per cent of finance directors said they expected patient care to worsen, though the majority were confident of delivering average cost improvement targets for this year.

The Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Nursing have issued a joint statement calling for ward rounds to be made the cornerstone of patient care. The two bodies said there was wide variation in practises across hospital trusts.
