L'Oreal takes PR in-house for two cosmetics brands

Beauty house L'Oreal has boosted its in-house PR team for the Shu

Uemura and Kiehl cosmetic and fragrance brands, acquired during the past

12 months.

The move signals the end of long-term PR agency contracts with

London-based Anna Nicholas Associates and Dowal Walker, which handled

Shu Uemura and Kiehl respectively.

Charlotte Adjchavanich has been taken on as PR manager for UK and

Ireland, joining from health and beauty web-site changeslive.com, where

she was communications director for 12 months.

She is joined by former colleague Lucy Science, who leaves her PR

manager's post at changeslive.com to become PR assistant for the two

brands.

Adjchavanich said the new roles had been created following a business

review.

The two upmarket brands are being incorporated into a new L'Oreal

division, Exclusive Signature International, housing the group's

top-of-the-range products.

Adjchavanich, who will be responsible for both press and public

enquiries, said the Japanese brand Shu Uemura was being relaunched with

a stand-alone boutique in London's Covent Garden.

The PR focus for Kiehl, which has clientele including Madonna, Brad Pitt

and George Clooney, would be to increase distribution in retail outlets,

she said. The brand will also figure in promotional events such as film

premieres.

Adjchavanich worked as an account director on cosmetic and fragrance

brands at Astrid Sutton Associates, and with fashion and beauty

specialists Cameron PR, which was responsible for promoting the Berlei

sports bra featuring Russian tennis star Anna Kournikova.

Adjchavanich reports to Shu Uemura UK regional manager Heather Loughran

and newly appointed Kiehl UK regional manager Angela Lassin.
