Mahony steps up as London chief leaves Edelman

Edelman London CEO Tari Hibbitt is stepping down after four years

at the helm of the Top 20 agency, handing over the title to John

Mahony.

Mahony, who was recently made joint CEO of the firm, will take full

responsibility for the 130-strong agency when Hibbitt leaves early next

month.

Hibbitt confirmed she would continue in PR, concentrating on client

counsel, including key Edelman clients.

She said she was stepping down to spend more time in Scotland, where her

partner Dr Brian Lang is principal of St Andrews University - where

Prince William enrolled this week.

Mahony takes on the CEO role with plans to double fees from £12.5m

to £25m in the next three years.

He said he would grow Edelman both organically and through acquisitions,

with particular emphasis on bringing in 'heavyweight' staff: 'Our plan

is to go to the market over the next three years and recruit high-end

senior counsellors. If we see the right teams we will go after

them.'

Mahony added that he would also look to build the agency's consumer,

financial and tech PR offerings.
