The consortium, lead by Ogilvy Group Brussels, includes teams from across Ogilvy PR, Ogilvy advertising and specialist social and digital departments.

Ogilvy Brussels will create a strategic framework for the European Parliament in preparation for the elections, and the consortium will develop an awareness campaign around the European Parliament's values across Europe.

Ogilvy PR Brussels managing director Jeff Chertack will head the group.

Chertack said: ‘Working alongside the European Parliament presents a great opportunity and challenge – to educate and engage European citizens during one of the most trying times in recent European history.

'We will apply our knowledge of how to engage citizen-consumers to build on the European Parliament’s existing communications efforts, resulting in greater understanding and shared vision.’

The new briefs were awarded under a wider four-year framework contract with the European Parliament’s Directorate-General for Communication, which Ogilvy won earlier this year. They were appointed over fellow framework contractors Saatchi & Saatchi and M&C Saatchi.

Ogilvy Belgium group strategy director Kristel Vanderlinden will take the lead on European strategy and Ogilvy Brussels creative director Sam De Win will oversee all creative work.
