Comms chief set to join Investors in People scheme

Government workforce development initiative Investors in People UK

has appointed Sue Martin as its director of communications.

Martin, previously controller of corporate and internal comms at BBC

Worldwide, made it the first BBC division to achieve IiP

accreditation.

Her previous role was as owner of Martin Associates PR. Martin said her

experience with IiP had shown her what a powerful tool it could be.

'It is my role to communicate this message to the widest possible

audience,' she said.

According to Ruth Spellman, IiP UK chief executive, a key element of

Martin's job will be reaching small firms with messages about the

Investors in People standard.

'We will be doing much more B2B marketing of the standard. This will

involve contributing views on current issues and relating what we are

doing to the news.'

The IiP works closely with the Department for Education and Skills. The

IiP standard was developed in 1990.
