The ParalympicS Opening Ceremony was watched by a peak audience of 10.9 million viewers on Channel 4, the highest audience for the channel in ten years, according to unofficial overnight figures.

Heat, the celebrity-focused magazine, has committed to using the augmented reality platform Aurasma, after championing a trial of the app.

Independent.co.uk registered a 25 per cent jump in monthly browsers in July to 16.01 million, level with rival Mirror Online. Daily users were up 21 per cent to 741,995.

UTV Media, owner of TalkSport and the channel three broadcaster in Northern Ireland, has reported a profit before tax of £10.9m in the first half of 2012, up one per cent year on year after double-digit gains at TalkSport were partially offset elsewhere.

T3, the Future-owned gadget title, has posted an ABC-verified circulation figure of 17,682 for its interactive tablet edition.

Aegis, the media and digital specialist, which is being acquired by Dentsu, has reported a 15 per cent boost to first-half revenues but a 2.4 per cent drop in pre-tax profits to £36.1m.

Guardian Media Group non-executive director Simon Fox is leaving the group to be Trinty Mirror chief executive.
