MEDIA: Douglas is named editor-in-chief of Future ents mags

Future Publishing has appointed Jim Douglas as editor-in-chief of

its London-based entertainment titles.

He will be responsible for editorial content across Total Film, Official

Manchester United Magazine, Metal Hammer, Classic Rock and Home

Entertainment.

He will work with individual editors although the company insisted there

was no potential for conflict.

Reporting to group publisher Andy Sutcliffe, Douglas is tasked with

developing the titles, particularly Total Film.

Although the company was tightlipped on plans for the next stage of the

movie title's development, Douglas said it was 'a credible competitor to

(Emap Elan's) Empire'. Total Film sells only 78,100 to Empire's

160,200.

Douglas had previously been at Imagine Media, the US arm of Future

Network, where he had launched the US version of T3.

Douglas joined Future Publishing in 1992 and has been publisher of

Redline and the launch edition of Total Film.
