INTERNATIONAL: Mexican Tourism Board puts £2.2m remit up for grabs

MEXICO CITY: The Mexican Tourism Board is searching for an agency

to handle a brief expected to be worth in the region of £2.2m to

promote the country in the US.



The body has already issued a request-for-proposals, and

Fleishman-Hillard is believed to be among the agencies pitching.



The contract is expected to run from October to December 2002.



F-H has previously hand-led Mexico's account for the Europe and Latin

America regions.



The pitch coincides with the renewed appointment of KWE Associates on a

project basis to handle PR for the country's capital, Mexico City.



The agency will represent the country in the US and Canada.



Agency sources speculate that the Mexico City Tourism Board will also be

looking for a global agency next year.



Mexico is the US's largest trading partner.
