Incepta scraps Steeds' Citigate liaison position

The Incepta Group has scrapped the liaison role between itself and

its largest UK PR agency, Citigate Dewe Rogerson.

The role had been filled by the agency's founder, Incepta board and

Citigate director Kevin Steeds, until he resigned earlier this

month.

David Wright, Incepta executive chairman, has confirmed that the group

is not looking to replace Steeds, who acted as operating officer,

liaising between the agency and the group.

He said: 'I will have responsibility for that area. We don't feel there

is a need to bring in anyone else to do that.'

Steeds helped found Citigate in 1988 and was appointed group finance

director when it was bought by Incepta in 1997.

He had never held a client- facing role at Citigate, the UK's second

largest PR agency, and is not believed to have left to take up another

role in the PR industry.

- The Incepta Group has this week acquired two sponsorship consultancies, Karen Earl and Redmandarin.

West London-based Karen Earl is best known for its work taking Cornhill

Insurance from unknown to household name through its sponsorship of

England cricket Test matches. Clients include Coca-Cola, Guardian Media

and Whitbread.

Redmandarin, which was set up in 1999, specialises in sponsorship

strategy, with clients including Unilver, Barclays and Ericsson.
