Fresh from the acquisition of KTB PR, Speed Communications’ newly expanded consumer division will manage three of the cycling brands within its portfolio for a three-month period.

The agency has been charged with managing a relaunch of the popular commuter folding bike brand Kansi this summer.

Further activity will include a launch for the urban road bike Eastway and the cycling luggage and clothing brand Union 34.

Speed’s media engagement activity will be both off- and online to reflect the initial focus of the brief, which is to target the London cycling community and commuters.

The account will be headed by James McCann-Ellerington, reporting to Fisher Outdoor’s Mike Cook.

Commenting on the appointment, Speed’s director, Kate Bosomworth said the agency would help the brand to build its portfolio, adding: ‘Cycling is at an all-time high in the UK and Fisher Outdoor Leisure is a key player behind this growth.'

The brief is being undertaken with a view to becoming retained following a successful launch.
