Dulux consumer brief is put out to tender in the UK

Leading paint brand Dulux is tracking a number of agencies in its

search for UK consumer PR assistance.

Industry sources say at least three agencies are pursuing the brief,

which is likely to bring in fees well into six figures.

Weber Shandwick Worldwide currently operates a press office function for

the firm.

It is understood WSW is the incumbent on the consumer account, which was

first handed to the then Welbeck division of Shandwick

International.

No-one from WSW was available to comment as PRWeek went to press.

The firm also currently retains corporate PR agency Fishburn Hedges on

an internal communications brief.

Dulux is owned by ICI Paints, a division of the ICI chemical giant which

has a global turnover of £2.2bn, and recorded profits of £177m last year.

ICI Paints manufactures in 26 countries worldwide, covering Europe, the

Americas and Asia, operating out of headquarters in Slough in the

UK.

In July, ICI Paints courted controversy with the latest in its 'You find

the colour, we'll match it' series of adverts when TV watchdogs ruled

that the ad contained adult content and should be shown after the 9pm

watershed.
