Nikki Rooke joins as head of public affairs, events and sponsorship, replacing Duncan Forrester, who moves to a new role within Volvo Car Corporation.
She joined the SMMT in 2008 from the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, where she managed the global PR function. Before that she worked for Ford’s premier automotive group.
Rooke said: ‘I'm delighted to have joined Volvo Car UK at such an important time in its history, with the all-new V40 set for success in the segment and orders for 2012 already looking strong.
‘Not only that but the V60 D6, with its world-first plug-in diesel hybrid technology, will be starting production at the end of the year. I look forward to continuing the good work already started and ensuring the success continues.’
In July, Volvo called on Shine Communications to promote the V60. The agency was approached for the brief, which is project-based and lasts two months, as part of a 'Switch to Pure' Europe-wide campaign around the V60 model.
