PUBLIC SECT0R: Contact a Family unveils disability benefits PR plan

Children's charity Contact a Family is to launch a PR campaign to

target families missing out on millions of pounds of Government

handouts.

The charity estimates that as many as 250,000 families could be failing

to claim disability living allowance benefits.

This latest campaign, to launch next month, is part of a cranking up of

the charity's PR work this year.

Two months ago the charity appointed its first PR chief, Jill Harrison,

who has the title of director of external affairs.

Reporting to chief executive Francine Bates, Harrison heads a 15-strong

team and liaises with the charity's retained media relations agency,

Third Sector.

Harrison said this latest initiative will target the mainstream national

press.

'We need to communicate straight to families who care for children who

are disabled or have special needs that help is there,' she added.
