She will join the agency on 13 August as an account director working in the natural resources practice.

She began her career with leading Canadian oil & gas specialist CNR International, and then spent six years with London-based Bankside Consultants. Mason is also secretary to the Association of Mining Analysts, a City-based mining industry networking organisation.

She joins a team of eight consultants devoted to natural resources and will report directly to Bobby Morse, senior partner and head of the natural resources practice at Buchanan.

Meanwhile, Buchanan has been mandated by Endeavour Mining on its $398m acquisition of Avion Gold.  Endeavour is a Toronto and Australia listed gold company with producing mines in Burkina Faso and Ghana, with a third mine being built in Ivory Coast.

The acquisition of Avion Gold, also TSX listed, adds a further producing mine in west Mali and will create a $1bn mining entity focused on gold production, development and exploration in West Africa.

Commenting on Mason’s appointment, Morse commented: ‘Louise’s experience in handling numerous types of transactions during her career at Walbrook and Bankside, as well as her industry experience and contacts, will provide considerable value to our fast growth mining and oil and gas client base.’
