MEDIA: Thomas to edit entertainment service at APTN

International video news agency APTN has appointed a new editor for

its entertainment news service with a mandate to increase coverage of

youth culture in the organisation's feeds.

Nick Thomas joins APTN from the position of editor at cinema website

mymovies. net. He will have a team of 11 staff reporting to him in the

company's London bureau as well as staff correspondents in offices in

New York and Los Angeles.

Chris O'Hearn, APTN head of content development, said: 'We want to get

into new subject areas such as more output and aimed at a youth

audience.'

O'Hearn hopes Thomas can help develop more web-based and interactive TV

content.

APTN runs two daily entertainment services - one a completed programme,

the second a series of cuts.

There is also a weekly entertainment round-up. It is used by clients

such as music channel VH1 and the ABC network in the US.
