Pelham Bell Pottinger hires Brunswick's Daniel Thöle

Bell Pottinger Private has recruited Daniel Thöle as a director of Pelham Bell Pottinger, while Phoebe Vela has been promoted to group director of comms.

Thöle joins the agency from Brunswick, where he worked as a director in its energy and resources practice, focusing on mining clients.

During his comms career he has worked with FTSE100 and leading South African companies across all sectors in disciplines, including stakeholder engagement, mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings.

Prior to this, Thöle was companies editor of Business Day, South Africa’s largest financial daily, and worked as a journalist at Mineweb in Johannesburg.

He will work in Pelham’s mining team, alongside Founding Director Charles Vivian and Associate Director Lorna Spears.

James Henderson, Bell Pottinger Private’s chief executive officer, said: ‘We are delighted that Daniel has joined our team, his specialist knowledge of Africa and global mining will be instrumental in the Group’s on-going growth in resources, where we will continue to build on our market leading position.’

Thöle added: ‘We have a talented, specialist mining team able to address the communications needs of companies in this challenging and important sector and a growing client base of leading companies in the sector.’

Meanwhile, Phoebe Vela has been promoted to manage the centralised comms and new business function of Bell Pottinger Private. She joined the agency in February from The Spectator

Henderson said, she will ‘play a key role in communicating the vision and strategy of the new private public relations business.’
