Major relaunch is in the pipeline for BA Concorde fleet

British Airways is set to unveil a major PR campaign for the

planned relaunch of Concorde.

The supersonic fleet, which has been grounded since the fatal Air France

Concorde crash last year, may be relaunched later this summer if the

aircraft pass safety checks.

Beverly Coates, operations and technical communications manager, is

heading a BA team drawing staff from all communications departments, to

co-ordinate PR and marketing for the Concorde relaunch.

Coates is working alongside Gemma Moore, commercial communications

manager.

Moore said that no external PR agencies will be brought in for the

campaign in the UK and US, but that it would be handled in-house.

She said: 'We need a big team available for such a key announcement as

the relaunch. We are waiting for the go-ahead and then a lot of

communications work will take place, but it is still at an early

stage.'

Work in progress includes BA contacting Concorde's most frequent

flyers.

Around 50 are expected to be invited to inspect Concorde and meet its

senior staff.

Earlier this year Concorde's chief pilot and senior engineers were sent

to the US to brief US passengers on safety modifications (PRWeek, 23

March).
