The agency, which replaces M&C Saatchi in August, will work alongside the in-house team to support the FA’s 150th anniversary celebrations in 2013 as part of the brief.

M&C Saatchi declined to repitch for the account.

The FA has already confirmed that England will rekindle football’s oldest rivalry as part of the celebrations, taking on Scotland at Wembley in August next year to mark the occasion.

The organisation has promised a year of ‘blue-chip international matches’ at Wembley and throughout the country to commemorate the landmark year.

Mischief will also support PR activity centred on the national stadium itself as well as the world’s oldest domestic football competition The FA Cup.

The FA's overall comms operation is headed by Adrian Bevington, MD of Club England and group comms director. Bevington previously stepped down from his overarching comms role to work full-time for Club England, but reassumed his duties after the departure of The FA's director of marketing and comms Julian Eccles in May 2011.
