Opinion: Letters of the week - There are plenty of specialists that would make good acquisitions

Danny Rogers' comment that 'there is a shortage of genuinely great businesses to buy' needs some context ('Danny Rogers: More mergers and acquisitions are coming', 13 July).

If by great, he means a large-scale PR business that the major international marcoms networks would historically have acquired, then he's right. But best in class agencies with specialist skill sets are high on the priority lists of many acquirers.

While trading conditions are tough, being independent leaves you free to pursue your own strategy. Thus not all are fed up and looking to pile out of the market.
