The Townswomen's Guilds has reappointed Cognition as its retained national PR agency.

The Leamington Spa and London-based agency was originally appointed by TG in June 2011 to raise national awareness and attract members to the organisation. Journalist and presenter Esther Rantzen was appointed vice-president at the group's recent AGM.

A smartphone app designed to share real-time information with the police and people in the City of London will be free for download in the Apple App Store before the Olympic Games begin, with an Android version to follow. The City of London Police app has been researched by the London School of Economics and Political Science and developed jointly with the force.

Cornwall Council comms manager Hannah Rees has won the LGA's local government challenge, which is looking for chief executives of the future. Rees will win a scholarship of up to £10,000.

Monmouthshire County Council is offering financial support for groups of tourism businesses or communities to develop new digital tourism networks or improve existing networks. It is funded through the 'Welcome Monmouthshire' Rural Development Plan for Wales.
