The new agency will offer integrated PR and digital services to b2b and consumer brands.

Capella launches today with four staff already onboard including its first senior hire, Nia Evans, poached from her role as European comms manager at online ticketing exchange viagogo.

The agency is based in Battersea, London, and plans to focus on both established and challenger brands from the technology, internet, entertainment and media sectors.

Capella founder and CEO Thomas has ambitious plans, aiming to ‘build one of London's best agencies’ and double in size in the first 12 months.

He said: ‘I’m confident that I’m well known enough to be able to start from scratch and get new business through the doors very quickly. I want it to be the best agency in London – not necessarily the biggest.

‘Now is a great time to launch a new creative agency. The turbulent economic times are disrupting both the wider market and the PR landscape, and the emergence of digital and social media have created new opportunities for brands.

Brands2Life co-founder Sarah Scales said of Thomas’ move: ‘He has been with us for more than ten years and we respect his decision to start his own business, though it’s sad to be losing him. He is a great PR and we wish him all the luck in the world.’

Capella, whose name comes from a star shaped like a quotation mark, aims to be ‘fresh and fearless’ and have ‘digital thinking at the heart of its PR campaigns’.
