INTERNATIONAL: Griffon-Fouco takes top comms post at EdF

PARIS: Electricite de France (EdF) - parent group of London

Electricity and SWEB - has promoted Martine Griffon-Fouco to take its

top communications post.

Griffon-Fouco replaces incumbent Patrice Kreis later this month.

Kreis leaves the group after three years to pursue his own interests

outside EdF.

During his time with the group Kreis helped define the group's

advertising strategy, communications surrounding the opening of the

French electricity market and EdF's international growth.

He also set up a cross-functional communications system throughout the

company and helped launch the current EdF website.

Griffon-Fouco inherits the same remit and is responsible for all

advertising, internal and external communications.

She is promoted from her former role as EdF's head of regional action in

France - a post which involved co-ordinating EdF's 22 delegations

throughout France and in the French overseas departments and

territories.

In her new role, she reports to EdF chairman Francois Roussely and will

be supported by a team of around 100, split between regional

divisions.

EdF hired UK City PR firm Brunswick last month on a brief to advise the

group on strategic PR surrounding its part in the hostile £3bn bid

for Montedison, which is one of Italy's largest industrial conglomerates

(PRWeek, 13 July).

The Brunswick team, led by partner Rurik Ingram, was tasked with dealing

with all international media relations, which includes the UK and all

regions outside the group's headquarters in France.

EdF-owned London electricity is set to make a raft of communications

appointments as it seeks a comms manager, group public affairs executive

and a group media relations executive.
