PUBLIC SECT0R: Sting's rainforest charity ramps up PR with Amazon

The Rainforest Foundation UK, the conservation charity founded by

the singer Sting, is to crank up its PR work.

A deal has been struck with corporate social responsibility specialist

Amazon PR, who will carry out work on a pro bono basis.

This is the first time since its creation in 1989 that the charity,

which already has an in-house policy officer, has used external PR

professionals for this kind of work.

Foundation director Simon Counsell said: 'We are a small organisation so

it has been difficult to promote the work we do. We are hoping that will

now change.'

A long-term communications strategy, which includes promoting a charity

art auction next year, is now being drawn up by Amazon MD Louise

Morriss.

Founders Sting and wife Trudie Styler are no longer trustees but still

raise funds for the charity.
