Public Sector: The Public Sector Week

John Seekings has been appointed head of comms at Hillingdon Council. Seekings, previously head of the press office at Haringey Council, replaces David Holdstock, who left the role earlier this year to become the Local Government Association's head of comms.

Francis Maude, Minister for the Cabinet Office, has unveiled the pilot of the Government's Solutions Exchange tool. The online tool is designed to help SMEs connect with government and find out about potential ways to sell to the public sector or to pitch an innovative idea.

The Carnegie UK Trust is looking for a PR agency to help with media support services. The trust, which looks to influence public policy with the aim of improving lives, is believed to be currently in talks with agencies.

The Cabinet Office is in the final stages of deciding on an agency to develop and deliver a social media strategy for National Citizen Service. The Government is looking for support over the summer to help raise awareness of the programme, which is aimed at 16- and 17-year-olds.
