Will Hill: to work on British American Tobacco's fight against plain packaging

Hill will join on 2 July as its new PR manager. He joins as the battle between tobacco companies and the Department of Health continues over the introduction of plain packaging for cigarettes.

Hill told PRWeek: ‘My role will be to work with the media to raise awareness of British American Tobacco’s work to expose and beat the counterfeit market as well as the work they do to support the various suppliers from around the world.

‘There will also be an element of supporting the company’s efforts to raise awareness of all the arguments surrounding the Government’s proposed scheme to introduce plain packaging.’

British American Tobacco, along with other cigarette manufacturers Philip Morris International and Imperial Tobacco, have criticised the DH over the way the consultation has been handled, attacking its credibility and failure to provide evidence that it will reduce smoking rates. The consultation is due to finish at the end of July.

Hill will sit in the corporate and regulatory affairs team at the company. Before joining Bite, Hill was an associate director at Fleishman-Hillard.
