Spurr will replace Susan Eastoe, who is now COO, EMEA, and continue in his current job as group managing director of Edelman’s health teams in the UK.

The move follows more than 14 years of work at the agency, which he joined in 1998 as a graduate trainee.

During this time, Spurr has worked across areas including consumer, corporate and health in New York, Sydney and London.

He said: ‘I’m bringing the experience of having grown up in the organisation and gained different perspectives through working in a wide range of roles. We have always been client-centered at Edelman, so it’s about focusing on that and making sure we continue to do what we do well.'

Spurr added: ‘I will take a little time to really understand the company in my new role before I consider any new directions for us to take.’

Eastoe’s change of roles in March came alongside that of Iain Twine, who expanded his remit of general manager of Edelman’s Abu Dhabi and Dubai offices to embrace the rest of the Middle East and Africa.

Ed Williams, UK CEO, said he was looking for ‘a strong partner’ following Eastoe’s move.

Praising Spurr's ‘instrumental’ role of Edelman’s health offering, he added: ‘He has the insight and strategic skills we need as we continue to invest and grow our UK business.’
