The agency has quickly moved to bolster its senior team with the hire of Trefgarne as a partner, just six months after he joined KGA as a director from City PR firm Smithfield.
He will work in College Hill’s natural resources team, reporting to managing partners of the agency and co-heads of the financial PR practice Mark Garraway and Matthew Smallwood.
Trefgarne spent more than 11 years at Smithfield, having joined in 1999 from Financial Dynamics (now FTI Consulting). He has worked in the UK financial markets for 18 years, specialising in advising clients in the resources sector, including BHP Billiton, De Beers, Nufcor, PKN Orlen and Gencor.
Garraway and Smallwood jointly said in a statement: ‘Rupert’s appointment, following on from the recent arrival of Matthew Tyler, further strengthens the natural resources team as it looks to take advantage of the exciting opportunities in the sector around the world.’
Tyler joined the agency in March, having previously worked in corporate broking and specialist equity sales for investment banks including Evolution Securities and KBC Peel Hunt.
Earlier this month, College Group hired Hill+Knowlton Strategies' Tim Fallon to head its corporate business. Fallon also previously led public and community affairs at J Sainsbury and headed public affairs at airport operator BAA.
