The agency will be providing PR support to the airport for the next three years as it develops passenger air services.
This will involve consumer and b2b PR support to the airport as it starts introducing European short-haul operations to popular and niche business and leisure destinations.
Sara Whines, an account director leading the agency team, said: ‘We’re going to be positioning Cambridge as a gateway to London and the east of England. It has got real potential for both airlines and consumers going there. We want to push the ease of travelling especially when there are stories constantly about Stansted and Heathrow.’
The move comes amid weeks of trouble at Heathrow, where passengers have been facing hours of queues at immigration, and a wider debate about airport capacity in the south-east.
It also comes after Luton Airport called in parent agency Four Communications recently for a public affairs brief, and controversy around BAA charging agencies to pitch.
The work will focus on engaging with consumers, with press trips planned for the new route, as well as the aviation industry.
Whines and her team will be reporting to airport director Archie Garden and David Surley, head of business development.
