The PRCA has named Emily Wallace, Connect Communications operations director, as chairman of the public affairs group, supported by PLMR account director Elin Twigge as vice-chairman.
The two new executives will hold the positions for two years, with the aim of raising the profile of public affairs. Wallace replaces Airport Operators Association chief executive Darren Caplan.
The news comes as the PRCA has stated that yesterday’s Queen’s Speech was a ‘wasted opportunity’ as it did not cover the statutory register on which constitutional and political reform minister Mark Harper has been consulting.
PRCA chief executive Francis Ingham said: ‘We have continually waited for a lobbying bill and it is extremely lamentable that the Government still hasn’t delivered.
‘The consultation lacked clarity in its objectives, and any further delays will mean large parts of the industry, especially powerful in-house lobbyists, will not be registered for the foreseeable future. The Government must act now.’
