Global PR chief Hamilton quits Le Meridien hotels

Luxury hotel chain Le Meridien has parted company with global PR

director Phoebe Hamilton.

Group marketing director Alain Briere said that Hamilton, who had been

with the chain since January 2000, had made a 'quality of life' decision

to leave London.

The firm will now recruit a director of PR for UK and Ireland and

international markets. The search for a successor, to report jointly to

Briere and regional MD John Bamsey, is 'nearing completion,' Briere

said.

The company's other in-house team member, PR executive Judy MacGregor,

is not in the running for the job, Briere said: 'We like her dearly, but

she doesn't have the experience Phoebe had.'

He said the chain was considering external candidates or transferring an

internal candidate from outside the UK.

Le Meridien was sold by catering company Compass Group to Japanese

investment bank Nomura in May.

Hamilton assumed the global brief last October. She had previously spent

nine months as the firm's first PR director for the UK and Ireland

handling external and corporate communications.
