Burson-Marsteller hires Edelman US director Michael Hartt

Burson-Marsteller UK has hired Michael Hartt to join its corporate and crisis practice as a director.

Hartt joins the agency from Edelman’s Washington office, where he was vice-president, international public affairs.

While at Edelman Hartt led campaigns on behalf of businesses, governments and global non-profit organisations. He worked on the campaign to secure freedom for Silva Harotonian, an NGO worker imprisoned in Iran, which won two PRWeek US awards.

He joins the B-M London team this week and will report to corporate and crisis chair MD Amanda Pierce.

Pierce said of his appointment: ‘Michael will bring a further international dimension to our work and enhance our messaging and media offer.’

Hartt has worked on clients ranging from the US Virgin Islands, the embassies of the Netherlands and Switzerland to the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (the '9/11 Commission').
