MEDIA: Brockbank takes on TIME web role

International current affairs magazine TIME has appointed local

newspaper internet content provider Max Brockbank as web producer for

its Europe edition.



Brockbank, who has six years of experience in internet design and

content, will report to James Geary, Timeeurope. com's editor.



He will mastermind content for the site and oversee the development of

special reports and in-depth analyses.



The site, which TIME claims receives an average of 100,000 hits per

week, includes a selection of editorial material from the magazine,

together with a series of special interest 'mini sites' spun-off from

the main news agenda or looking in detail at a topical issue.



Current examples include one on Global Influentials - TIME's pick of

'the 50 most influential people in the world' - a UK election special

and a dedicated site for the Summer of Culture, detailing cultural

activities across Europe over the summer months.



Brockbank joins the AOL Time Warner-owned magazine group from

London-based internet development firm E-Motion, where he served as a

web producer.



Prior to that he spent five years at Newcastle's Sunday Sun newspaper as

acting chief sub editor and then web editor. His former roles include a

four-year stint as production editor on the Western Morning News and a

spell as a sub editor at the Cambridge Evening News.



The European edition of TIME magazine is published separately for an

EMEA readership of over 630,000. The global circulation of the New

York-based magazine is over 5.5 million.
