INTERNATIONAL: Club Med calls in Comfidence after profits plummet

PARIS: Troubled package holiday operator Club Mediterranee (Club

Med) has taken on two financial communications agencies on the back of

disastrous financial results released last month.



Club Med director of communications Thierry Orsoni has appointed Image 7

to handle results and Comfidence for PR surrounding annual reports.



Comfidence president Josselyne Guillon is to personally head its

account, reporting to Club Med chairman Philippe Bourguignon. The two

have been in discussions with analysts aimed at calming fears over the

firm's future.



After announcing two sets of profit warnings in the last eight months,

the firm's policy of spending heavily on improvements to its resorts and

new marketing strategies appears to have backfired.



Despite revenues of pounds 573m in the six months to June - a rise of

9.1 per cent - profits still fell 82 per cent, from pounds 22.8m to

pounds 3.6m.
