INTERNATIONAL: Continental hires Nagata to head PR in Asia Pacific

TOKYO: Continental Airlines has appointed its first PR chief for

the Asia Pacific region.

Koji Nagata, former corporate communications manager for Japan for

Continental's main rival, Northwest Airlines, will oversee PR for the

airline in his new role as corporate communications manager, Asia

Pacific.

The role covers Japan, Guam, and Hong Kong. He will be based in

Tokyo.

Nagata started his career at Northwest in its export cargo section

before moving to in-flight service, reservations and then sales and

marketing before moving into PR.

He will report to John Walker, Continental Airlines senior V-P,

worldwide corporate communications, who is based in Houston.

'With the appointment of Koji, we will be able to more effectively

communicate Continental's global success in Asia Pacific,' said

Walker.

The move comes three months after the launch of its first non-stop Hong

Kong to New York service.
