Financial Dynamics M&A work boosts table ranking

City PR firm Financial Dynamics advised on more M&A deals than any

other UK rival last month, clocking up 15 deals worth pounds 3.71bn.

According to the data compiled by Zephus for PRWeek, the agency, led by

CEO Charles Watson, boosted its position into the Top 10 league of M&A

PR advisers for May, moving up seven places to fourth.

FD notched up the impressive deal portfolio advising on some of the

month's biggest deals, including UK client Shire Pharmaceuticals' pounds

2.81bn takeover of Canadian biotech firm BioChem Pharma.

But the pounds 9.68bn deal between Halifax and Bank of Scotland topped

all takeovers last month, creating the country's fifth biggest bank -

and helping Brunswick cement its position at the top of the financial PR

ranking.

Brunswick advised on six deals totalling nearly pounds 18bn, according

to the Zephus data, which was compiled using all publicised deals

involving at least one UK company, during May.

Tavistock Communications jumped up one place to second position with

pounds 8.35bn worth of deals in May, of which more than pounds 7bn came

from advising British client Vodafone.

The mobile phone giant gained a stronger foothold in Asia, paying pounds

3.7bn for a minority 20 per cent share of Japan Telecom's J-Phone

Communications.

Citigate Dewe Rogerson bagged third position with ten deals worth pounds

5.8bn, largely earned through advising client Pernod Ricard on its joint

pounds 5.7bn deal with acquisition partner Diageo to buy Seagram's wine

and spirits division, announced last December.

Financial services firm Penrose Financial and US IR specialist Kekst &

Company both entered the Top 10 league through their work with Hicks

Muse Tate & Furst.

The private equity group teamed-up with Apax Partners to bid for Yell,

BT's online telephone directory.
