Whitehall stalwart Yasmin Diamond will join the hotel group in April and report to CEO Richard Solomons.

She will replace Leslie McGibbon, who has switched to a senior comms role at GlaxoSmithKline.

Diamond has worked at the Home Office since 2008. She formerly worked as director of comms at the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, and head of corporate comms at the Department for Education and Skills.

Diamond told PRWeek: ‘I have had the most wonderful career in Whitehall and have loved the different jobs I have done. I have had the privilege of working alongside many talented and inspirational colleagues, who have taught me a great deal.

‘My time in the Home Office has been fantastic. I am proud of what we have achieved in comms during the past couple of years. IHG is a great brand and I am really excited about leading its global corporate affairs.’

Diamond added that a replacement at the Home Office had not yet been appointed.

Solomons said: ‘Yasmin brings with her many years of experience dealing with constantly changing opportunities and challenges across the comms mix, which will further strengthen IHG's senior management team.

‘Her breadth of experience across internal and external comms in a wide variety of sectors and media channels will complement the strong hospitality experience within our existing comms teams.’
