Bobby Leach, former comms director at Vodafone, has joined Russian mobile telecoms firm VimpelCom as group director of comms.

Leach will be responsible for group-level comms, including internal comms and media relations.

M:Communications and Artemis Associates are advising UK-based Graff Diamonds on its planned Hong Kong IPO. The firm is expected to raise $1bn by listing this year. M: will handle comms in the UK, while Artemis will work in Hong Kong.

ECI Partners, the mid-market private equity firm, has called in Cubitt Consulting to handle its corporate and financial comms following an eight-way pitch. It is thought the firm previously used Equus Group.

FTI Consulting has hired former research analyst Simon Conway as a senior vice-president in its life sciences team. He joins from Evolution Securities, where he was the biotech and small-cap healthcare sector research analyst.

Filtrona, a supplier of speciality plastic and fibre products, has appointed Buchanan as its financial comms consultancy. Meanwhile, Belvoir Lettings, the UK specialist residential lettings business, has called in Buchanan to handle comms around its forthcoming AIM float.
