Gee to strengthen comms at news service Ananova

Internet news service Ananova is on the hunt for a PR agency following

the appointment of its first PR head.

Alison Gee has moved to the Leeds-based company from an account director

role with The Red Consultancy, which she had held for one year.

'We are building a strong in-house PR team and are assessing the need to

bring in an outside agency on either retainer or project basis,' said

Gee.

She has a brief to revamp communications prior to a major post-launch

awareness campaign to attract users.

The campaign, which begins on 1 June, will seek to attract so-called

technophile socialites to the site. 'We are also seeking to attract

urban thirty-somethings and students via a discreet campaign,' said Gee.

She reports to commercial director Vivienne Adshead and heads a team of

three.

PRO Deborah Lightfoot was hired as the only PRO in February, while Lucy

Williams joins as a PRO next week.

Ananova, which was launched a year ago, has 2.5 million estimated users.
