Internet news service Ananova is on the hunt for a PR agency following
the appointment of its first PR head.
Alison Gee has moved to the Leeds-based company from an account director
role with The Red Consultancy, which she had held for one year.
'We are building a strong in-house PR team and are assessing the need to
bring in an outside agency on either retainer or project basis,' said
She has a brief to revamp communications prior to a major post-launch
awareness campaign to attract users.
The campaign, which begins on 1 June, will seek to attract so-called
technophile socialites to the site. 'We are also seeking to attract
urban thirty-somethings and students via a discreet campaign,' said Gee.
She reports to commercial director Vivienne Adshead and heads a team of
PRO Deborah Lightfoot was hired as the only PRO in February, while Lucy
Williams joins as a PRO next week.
Ananova, which was launched a year ago, has 2.5 million estimated users.
