Cubitt Consulting secures Mercury Private Equity job

Global financial firm Mercury Private Equity (MPE) has turned to Cubitt

Consulting for PR support in the UK, France and Germany.

Cubitt won the business after a four-way pitch, which included incumbent

The Maitland Consultancy.

The agency will provide ongoing IR and financial PR advice, alongside

specific PR support surrounding Mercury Private Equity's rebranding and

name-change, to be announced in June.

Cubitt founding partner Fergus Wylie heads the account, reporting to MPE

chief operating officer Lisa Stone.

'I am hoping Cubitt will make us a recognised brand name with recognised

brand attributes,' said Stone.

Cubitt's brief is to grow and support MPE's profile with corporate,

management and investment audiences in the UK, Germany - where MPE has

established operations - and France, where the firm is due to open an

office later this year.

Part of the remit also includes strategic communications advice and

media relations support of dealflow originated by or involving MPE.

MPE, which comprises the private equity interests of what was Mercury

Asset Management, is rebranding following its management buyout from

investment bank Merrill Lynch International last June.

In the last three years, MPE has invested in more than 20 businesses

with an estimated market value of pounds 1.4bn.

Meanwhile, former Cubitt director and head of the TMT corporate

communications practice, Martin Forrest, has joined The Maitland

Consultancy.

He takes on the newly-created role as head of the firm's technology

division.

At Cubitt, Forrest has been replaced by Roland Daniells, who joined last

November as joint TMT practice head.

Daniells was previously a director at Mmd Marketing Communications.
