Gailey to head Nycomed Amersham corp affairs

Global healthcare group Nycomed Amersham (NA) has appointed Dr Lynne

Gailey as director of corporate affairs.

She takes over the position from Matthew Butler who is departing on a

career break on 1 June. He has been with NA for

three-and-a-half-years.

Gailey was the director and vice-president of communications for Europe

and International at the then SmithKline Beecham pharmaceuticals

conglomerate.

She left when the firm merged with GlaxoWelcome (GW) last December and

GW head of communications Geoff Potter assumed overall responsibility as

senior vice-president of corporate communications for the renamed

GlaxoSmithKline.

Gailey will oversee all communications at NA, heading a team of nine and

reporting to chief executive Sir William Castell.

Butler is a former deputy private secretary to the Prince of Wales, and

former head of media relations at Vickers defence Systems.

'I have been a corporate in-house PR man for 21 years and as much as I

love the job, there are other things I wish to do,' said Butler, who

remains an extra equerry to Prince Charles.

He also sits on the board of his local hospice and says he wishes to

become involved in fundraising.
