Blue Rubicon nets ex-Powergen PA supremo Norton

Corporate communications consultancy Blue Rubicon has hired Chris

Norton, the former public affairs head at energy company Powergen, as

senior consultant.

He left Powergen when it restructured its communications function

following the acquisition of US utility LG&E (PRWeek, 10 November

2000).

Blue Rubicon advised Powergen chairman Ed Wallis on the US deal last

year.

Norton's last remit at Powergen was to develop stakeholder and political

strategy, reporting directly to the UK board.

At Blue Rubicon, Norton joins his former colleague Fraser Hardie -

current MD of the agency and previous head of Powergen's

communications.

He takes up the post mid-April and has a remit to build the agency's PA

capability.

Hardie said the appointment is in line with the firm's aim to create a

management consultancy-style approach to PR.
