Push PR to ban all emails every Tuesday to encourage phone use

Fashion and lifestyle agency Push PR is introducing a ban on email every Tuesday to make employees think of alternative ways to communicate.

The agency is labelling the days ‘T’ Tuesdays as employees can use the telephone and Twitter to speak to clients, journalists and each other.

The move comes days after Thierry Breton, CEO of information technology services giant Atos, defended his decision to ban internal email to ‘go back to best management practices’.

Push MD Emma Hart said: ‘More and more offices are glued to their screen reacting to emails. Banning them will help build on our approach to proactively calling and holding press appointments.’

The ban will be in place from Tuesday, 13 December.

To communicate the move, the agency sent by courier the press release stating at the end: ‘Don’t’ email! Call us or tweet us’.
