James takes Cardew and Co to the Dome

The Dome's recently appointed chairman, corporate troubleshooter

David James, has hired his long-term financial PR favourites Cardew and

Co.

James has tasked the City consultancy with handling all business and

financial media relations and to advise both himself and the New

Millennium Experience Company (NMEC) board on financial and corporate PR

tactics leading up to the Dome's closure on 31 December.

It is understood incumbent agency Edelman PR Worldwide, which was

appointed in February by former Dome chairman Bob Ayling (PR Week UK, 18

February), has taken a back seat as Cardew handles the majority of media

enquiries.

Edelman continues to provide PY Gerbeau and NMEC with strategic counsel

and advice on consumer, marketing and events management, while Cardew

takes on the pressing financial and corporate issues.

Anthony Cardew, chairman of Cardew and Co, will head the five-strong

account team, reporting directly to James. The agency has been initially

hired on a four-month long project basis, although it may be

extended.

'There's going to be a lot of hard work,' said Cardew.

Cardew first began working with James 12 years ago and has advised him

on a number of salvage missions, including Dan-Air and Eagle Trust.

The Dome has again been in the headlines with the news that its sale may

be thrown open to include property developers, after recent proposals

collapsed.
